AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin Police have identified a person who died after being hit by two trucks while walking in northeast Austin in late May. PREVIOUS: Pedestrian killed after crash in northeast Austin According to the Austin Police Department, Brandon Boone, 43, was walking in the roadway in the 7100 block of Johnny Morris Road when he was hit by two pickup trucks. Boone died at the scene. Both drivers remained on the scene, showed no signs of impairment and cooperated with the investigation, APD said. MAP: Where have Austin’s fatal crashes occurred in 2023? (NEWS10) -- A Las Vegas man was sentenced on Tuesday to time served for conveying a hoax and false information, as well as sending white powder letters to the New York State Gaming Commission. The Department of Justice (DOJ) says that Brent Carter, 73, will serve three years of supervised release after getting out. The DOJ did not specify the length of Carter's sentence. JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. - A former Jefferson County deputy faces felony charges for DWI and involuntary manslaughter in a deadly crash. Jefferson County prosecutors have charged Colby McCreary in the investigation. He is accused in the death of Savannah McCreary, per court documents. Investigators say the crash happened in the early-morning hours of April 30 on Interstate 55 near Manley Quarry Road. Colby was reportedly driving a Jeep Cherokee and Savannah was a passenger. A “pause” might suggest that the Fed may not raise its benchmark rate again. A “skip” implies that it probably will — just not now.The purpose of suspending its rate hikes is to give the Fed’s policymakers time to look around and assess how much higher borrowing rates are slowing inflation. Calling next week’s decision a “skip” is also a way for Chair Jerome Powell to forge a consensus among an increasingly fractious committee of Fed policymakers.
