AUSTIN (The Texas Tribune) -- House Speaker Dade Phelan strongly condemned the leader of a major conservative PAC and demanded that elected officials — including Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick — return money they received from the group, one day after The Texas Tribune reported that it had recently hosted well-known white supremacist Nick Fuentes."This (is) not just a casual misstep,” Phelan said in a statement. “It’s indicative of the moral, political rot that has been festering in a certain segment of our party for far too long. Anti-Semitism, bigotry and Hitler apologists should find no sanctuary in the Republican party. Period. We cannot – and must not – tolerate the tacit endorsement of such vile ideologies.”Shortly after, Patrick denounced Fuentes and anti-semitism, but accused Phelan — whose statement noted Hamas' attack on Israel on Saturday — of exploiting the war for “his own political gain.” He called on Phelan to resign as speaker before 1 p.m. on Monday, when the Texas House is e...Vikings might have to protect injured star receiver Justin Jefferson from himself

If star receiver Justin Jefferson had his way, he would have been on the field for the Vikings on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium as they tried to mount a comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs.Instead, he stood on the sidelines with a towel draped over his head through the final minutes of the 27-20 loss, nursing a hamstring injury that forced him out of the game.Talking to reporters on Monday at TCO Performance Center, head coach Kevin O’Connell said the Vikings are still trying to determine how much time Jefferson will miss moving forward. The hamstring injury occurred late in the game while Jefferson was trying to make a cut to get open. He missed most of the fourth quarter as the Vikings dropped to 1-4 .“He’s down today,” O’Connell said. “He’s obviously among the most ultra-competitors I’ve ever met.”Asked if he’s optimistic that Jefferson will be available for the Vikings when they travel to play the Chicago Bears this w...Many NYS leaders throw support behind Israel

No rest for the weary and the wholly worked over. The Broncos, beat up and bruised to the tune of 234 yards rushing and a 31-21 home loss to the New York Jets, have a short work week before they board the charter late Wednesday to Kansas City.Waiting in the Central time zone, of course, is a Chiefs team featuring quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and, statistically speaking, the best defense Denver’s faced so far this season. The Chiefs opened this week as 10.5-point favorites and are once again off and running on a season that looks about as different from Denver’s as imaginable.“One of the things about this league is there’s nothing like winning,” Payton said Monday. “Obviously when you’re not having success, you have to dig deep. It’s difficult. It’s tough. You get up in the morning, it’s unpleasant, and yet, I think I have pretty good instincts relative to how to approach the team and how to guide the team relative to the next challenge.“And that’s what we’...Grizzlies are coming to town.
