MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — As Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa enters his fourth NFL season, one goal is prominent in his mind: staying healthy.“I wouldn’t like to. I would love to do that,” Tagovailoa said Wednesday when asked if playing a full 17-game season is a target for him.Sunday’s season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers will be Tagovailoa’s first regular-season game since he suffered his second concussion of 2022 in a Christmas Day game against Green Bay. He missed Miami’s final three games, including a playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills.Since then, much of the 25-year-old’s offseason has been geared toward making himself more durable. The Dolphins finished 9-8 last year and have hopes of a deep playoff run. When Tagovailoa was healthy, the Dolphins had one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL. He led the league in passer rating (105.5) and guided Miami to the sixth-best overall offense, trailing only Kansas City in yards per play. After br...Solve It 7: Removal Runaround

A local woman was worried about a potentially dangerous situation in her backyard. She says no one would help her, so she turned to Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story. Janine bought a house with a big backyard, a relaxing pool, and two large propane tanks. “The tanks came with the house. They were there to heat the pool,” Janine said. After a while, Janine decided the tanks had to go.“We didn’t need them because I wasn’t gonna heat the pool,” Janine said. And with the wild New England weather, she worried the tanks could get toppled during a storm.“The tanks were attached to each other with a wire, and then the pipe coming up. There’s a lot of dead trees back here, and they fall all the time. I thought that was dangerous. If we get a gust of wind in, that line snapped. I’ve seen explosions, and stuff, makes me a little nervous,” Janine said. The two tanks had a company n...Glasnow racks up 14 strikeouts as Rays defeat Red Sox 3-1

With an exhausted bullpen and James Paxton pushed all the way back to next Tuesday (10 days rest), Alex Cora needed Nick Pivetta to put the Red Sox on his back in Wednesday night’s series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays.Instead, Pivetta became the latest starter to make an early exit. The 30-year-old right-hander lasted just 4 ⅔ innings, giving up a pair of solo home runs and an RBI double before Cora strode out to the mound, forced to go to his beleaguered relief core too soon once again.Of course, Pivetta is tired, too. He’s worked every possible role this season, yanked from the rotation, slotted into the bullpen, then called back to make sporadic starts on an as-need basis. Brayan Bello is the only pitcher on the staff with more innings (137) this season. His manager had nothing but high praise for him. “Nick was outstanding,” Cora told reporters. “He pitched with three days rest and went out there and competed.”“I told him on the mound, I sa...Second SDSU student reports sex assault by presumed rideshare driver

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — An extramarital affair Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had with a donor’s employee helped connect the dots about why the Republican was using his power in ways that are now at the center of his impeachment trial on accusations of corruption, a former top aide testified Wednesday. “It answered that ‘why’ question,” said Jeff Mateer, who was Paxton’s second-in-command at the Texas attorney general’s office. The account by Mateer, who went on to report Paxton to the FBI in 2020 over allegations of abuse of office, quickly injected an affair that Paxton has acknowledged to staff into the historic impeachment trial — the gravest threat to Paxton’s political career after years of criminal charges and alleged scandal. The trial, which could last weeks, was set to resume Thursday for a third day with the testimony of another former aide who has also accused Paxton of wrongdoing. At the center of the case are accusations that Texas’ top lawyer wron...Former Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum to be the ruling party’s presidential candidate

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The former mayor of Mexico City will be the dominant ruling party’s presidential candidate, making it highly likely that Mexico will elect its first female president next year. The decision driven by polls of Morena party members means that Claudia Sheinbaum will run as the party’s candidate in the June presidential election. Mexico’s constitution bars popular outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador from a second six-year term.Morena national council president, Alfonso Durazo said that Sheinbaum beat former Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, her closest rival by double figures in five party surveys.Sheinbaum is the president’s close ally and as Morena’s candidate she will enjoy a distinct advantage. Last week, a broad opposition coalition selected female lawmaker Xóchitl Gálvez as its candidate.Sheinbaum, 61, led Ebrard in recent polling and both had stepped down from their positions to campaign full time.
